United Airlines and its parent company uniformly applied a policy denying regular wages to workers who took short-term military leave, a pilot told an Illinois federal judge, saying the court should grant certification to two classes.

Pilot Eric White told U.S. District Judge Charles R. Norgle Sr. in a memorandum Friday that United and United Continental Holdings unfairly denied pay under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act to workers such as him who took time off to perform military service obligations. They also failed to credit that time toward a profit-sharing program, White said.
